Ulf, son of Harold Godwinson
fl. 1067 – 1087?
House: Wessex
Ulf or Wulf was a son of Harold Godwinson, King of England, and was active around 1067 to 1087. His family was influential in Anglo-Saxon England, with his grandfather being Godwin, Earl of Wessex. Ulf's father, Harold, was crowned king in 1066, and his mother was likely Edith Swan-neck, though some historians suggest Ealdgyth could be his mother.
During the Norman conquest of England, Ulf was captured and imprisoned in Normandy. He remained a prisoner until the death of William the Conqueror in 1087. Upon William's deathbed, church dignitaries persuaded him to release political prisoners, including Ulf, who was then knighted by Robert Curthose.
Ulf's death date and circumstances are unknown, and there is no record of his burial. There is no further information on his succession or any roles he may have taken after his release.
