Thomas Percy, 1st Earl of Worcester

Thomas Percy, Earl of Worcester, KG, was an English nobleman and naval commander known for his involvement in the rebellion against King Henry IV. He served in the Hundred Years’ War against France and held various governing posts in English-controlled France, including Ambassador and Seneschal. He was appointed Admiral of the North and later the King’s Fleet in Ireland. Percy was involved in the deposition of Richard II and subsequently rebelled against Henry IV. Captured at the Battle of Shrewsbury, he was executed and buried in St. Peter’s, Shrewsbury. His head was displayed on London Bridge. He appears in Shakespeare’s Henry IV, Part 1.
