Richard Wydeville

Richard Wydeville, a younger son of John Wydeville and Isabel, was an English landowner, soldier, diplomat, administrator, and politician. He served in various military and administrative roles, including as a captain in Henry V’s forces, Seneschal of Normandy, Chamberlain to the Duke of Bedford, Treasurer of Normandy, Captain of Caen, and Lieutenant of Calais. Wydeville was elected Member of Parliament for Kent and named a justice of the peace for the county. He was also involved in diplomatic negotiations and served as sheriff of Northamptonshire. Despite his career and royal connections, he was never knighted. He was buried at Maidstone.
