Sir Robert de Brus, 6th Lord of Annandale

Robert de Brus, 6th Lord of Annandale, was a cross-border lord who played roles in several significant historical conflicts including the Second Barons' War, Ninth Crusade, Welsh Wars, and the First War of Scottish Independence. He was of Scoto-Norman-Irish heritage and a descendant of notable figures such as David I of Scotland and Henry I of England. His marriage to Marjorie of Carrick in 1271 brought him significant lands and claims to Scottish nobility, which would later influence the succession of the Scottish throne.

Robert was involved in various political and military events, including negotiating ransoms after the Battle of Lewes and participating in Edward I's Conquest of Wales. His son, Robert the Bruce, would eventually become King of Scotland. Robert's later years were marked by complex allegiances during the Scottish Wars of Independence, balancing his holdings and political ties between England and Scotland.
