Richard of Normandy

Richard of Normandy was the second son of William the Conqueror, King of England, and Matilda of Flanders. Born around 1054 in Normandy, France, he was part of the prominent House of Normandy. Richard is sometimes mistakenly referred to as the 'Duke of Bernay' due to a misinterpretation of an inscription on his tomb.

Richard died in a hunting accident in the New Forest, likely in 1070, when he collided with an overhanging branch. He was buried at Winchester Cathedral.
