Queen Margaret of Scotland

Margaret of England was born on 29 September 1240 at Windsor Castle, the second child of King Henry III of England and Eleanor of Provence. At the age of three, she participated in a public event in London with her brother, the future Edward I. In 1244, a marriage was arranged between Margaret and Alexander III of Scotland, and they were married on 25 December 1251 at York Minster.

Margaret experienced homesickness and dissatisfaction with her treatment in Scotland, leading to tensions between England and Scotland. In 1255, an agreement allowed her more freedom and the consummation of her marriage. She gave birth to her daughter Margaret in England in 1260–61 and attended events such as the translation of Edward the Confessor's relics in 1269.

Margaret died on 26 February 1275 at Cupar Castle and was buried at Dunfermline Abbey, Fife. Her husband, Alexander III, continued to reign as King of Scotland.
