Queen Camilla

Camilla, born Camilla Rosemary Shand and later known as Parker Bowles, is the Queen of the United Kingdom and the 14 other Commonwealth realms, as the wife of King Charles III. Born and raised in England, she spent her childhood in East Sussex and South Kensington, receiving her education in England, Switzerland, and France. Camilla’s first marriage was to British Army officer Andrew Parker Bowles in 1973, ending in divorce in 1995. She had a well-documented romantic involvement with Charles, both before and after her first marriage, which was subject to intense media scrutiny. Camilla and Charles married in 2005, and she became queen consort upon Charles’s accession on 8 September 2022, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Their coronation was held on 6 May 2023.

Throughout her public life, Camilla has been actively involved in charitable work, with a focus on raising awareness of osteoporosis, sexual abuse, literacy, animal welfare, and poverty. Her efforts in these areas have garnered her several honors and awards. Her early life was marked by a love for reading, instilled by her father, and she developed interests in horse riding, painting, fishing, horticulture, and gardening.
