Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld

Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, also known as Marie Louise Victoire, was a German princess and the mother of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom. Born in Coburg, she was the fourth daughter and seventh child of Franz Frederick Anton, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, and Countess Augusta Reuss of Ebersdorf. She first married Emich Carl, Prince of Leiningen, with whom she had two children, Carl and Feodora. After his death, she served as regent of the Principality during her son Carl's minority. Victoria later married Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and Strathearn, and gave birth to Princess Alexandrina Victoria of Kent, who would become Queen Victoria. Following the death of her second husband, she faced financial difficulties but was supported by her brother, Leopold, and eventually received an increase in income from the British state.
