Princess Augusta of Saxe-Gotha

Princess Augusta of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg was born on 30 November 1719 in Gotha, Duchy of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg, to Frederick II, Duke of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg, and Princess Magdalena Augusta of Anhalt-Zerbst. She married Frederick, Prince of Wales, on 27 April 1736 O.S. (8 May 1736 N.S.) and became Princess of Wales. The couple had nine children. Augusta did not become queen consort due to her husband's premature death in 1751. She played a role in the royal family's internal conflicts and was once instructed by Frederick to snub his parents. Augusta passed away on 8 February 1772 at Carlton House, London, England, and was buried in Westminster Abbey.
