Michael de la Pole, 2nd Earl of Suffolk

Michael de la Pole, 2nd Earl of Suffolk, was born in 1367 as the eldest son of Michael de la Pole, 1st Earl of Suffolk, and Katherine Wingfield. During the late 14th century, he supported Henry IV against Richard II amidst the political turmoil. His father fled abroad due to accusations of treason, leading to the forfeiture of the family title and estates, which Michael worked to recover over the following years.

In 1398, Michael de la Pole regained the earldom, and by 1399, he supported the deposition of Richard II, which led to the restoration of his estates by Henry IV. He participated in several military campaigns, including those in Scotland and naval operations. Additionally, he served as a diplomat at the Council of Pisa in 1409 and was involved in local governance as a justice of the peace in Norfolk and Suffolk.

Michael de la Pole died of dysentery on 14 September 1415 during the Siege of Harfleur. He was succeeded by his eldest son, Michael, who later died at the Battle of Agincourt.
