Maud, Countess of Huntingdon, was born around 1074 and became Queen of Alba through her marriage to King David I. She was the daughter of Waltheof, Earl of Northumbria, and Judith of Lens, making her the great-niece of William the Conqueror and granddaughter of Earl Siward. Her first marriage was to Simon de Senlis around 1090, with whom she had three children.
After Simon's death around 1111, Maud married David, the brother-in-law of Henry I of England, in 1113. This marriage brought David control over Maud's extensive estates in England. Together, they had four children, and in 1124, David ascended to the throne as King of Scots, making Maud the Queen consort.
Maud died on April 23, 1130, at the age of 58, and was buried at Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. Her son Henry succeeded her as the 3rd Earl of Huntingdon.
