Matilda of Saxony was a member of the Saxon nobility who became the countess consort of Flanders through her marriage to Baldwin III, Count of Flanders. She was the daughter of Hermann Billung. Her first marriage to Baldwin III resulted in the birth of one son. After Baldwin’s passing, Matilda entered into a second marriage with Godfrey I, Count of Verdun, with whom she had several children. She passed away on 25 May 1008 and was interred in Ghent.
