Margaret of York

Margaret of York, known as Margaret of Burgundy after her marriage, served as Duchess of Burgundy through her union with Charles the Bold. Following her husband’s death, she played a significant role in the preservation of the Burgundian State. She hailed from a notable lineage as the daughter of Richard, 3rd Duke of York, and Cecily Neville, and was the sibling to English monarchs Edward IV and Richard III. Her life began at Fotheringhay Castle in Northamptonshire and concluded in Mechelen, in the Low Countries.
