Margaret of England

Margaret of England, born on 20 July 1346 in Windsor, was a royal princess, the daughter of King Edward III of England and Philippa of Hainault. She was commonly referred to as Margaret of Windsor. Her initial marriage prospect to Albert III of Austria was altered due to political reasons. Subsequently, she was engaged to John of Blois, but the arrangement was cancelled because her sister Mary was betrothed to John IV of Brittany, John of Blois’s rival.

Having grown up with John Hastings, 2nd Earl of Pembroke, Margaret developed a close relationship with him from childhood. They married on 13 May 1359, around the same time her brother John of Gaunt married Blanche of Lancaster. Margaret’s life was cut short when she died around the age of 15, with her last known living record dated 1 October 1361. She was interred in Abingdon Abbey.
