Katherine Neville, Duchess of Norfolk

Katherine Neville was a medieval English noblewoman born around 1397, the eldest daughter of Ralph Neville, 1st Earl of Westmorland, and Joan Beaufort. She was the granddaughter of John of Gaunt and a great-granddaughter of King Edward III. Her life was marked by multiple marriages and political turbulence. She was married four times, each to men of significant political standing, and survived all her children.

Her first marriage was to John Mowbray, 2nd Duke of Norfolk, and together they had a son who became the 3rd Duke of Norfolk. Her subsequent marriages to Thomas Strangeways, John Beaumont, 1st Viscount Beaumont, and John Woodville, brother of Queen Elizabeth, brought her into the center of political power struggles of the time. Her last marriage was particularly controversial due to the significant age difference between her and John Woodville. Katherine was last seen in public at the coronation of Richard III in 1483.
