King Henry of Scotland

Henry of Scotland, also known as Eanric mac Dabíd, was born in 1114 as the son of King David I of Scotland and Maud, 2nd Countess of Huntingdon. He was the heir apparent to the Kingdom of Alba and held the titles of 3rd Earl of Northumbria and 3rd Earl of Huntingdon. In 1136, his father invaded England, leading to a settlement with Stephen of Blois, which included Henry performing homage to Stephen in exchange for Carlisle and the Earldom of Huntingdon.

In 1139, Henry married Ada de Warenne, daughter of William de Warenne, 2nd Earl of Surrey. That same year, after another invasion by his father, he was invested with the Earldom of Northumberland. Henry paid homage to Stephen for his earldom and was reinvested with Carlisle and Cumberland. He held the Earldom of Northumberland as a Scottish fief after Stephen's capture by Empress Matilda's forces.

Henry died suddenly on 12 June 1152 at the age of 37 or 38, in either Newcastle or Roxburgh. His death did not lead to a succession crisis, as he left behind three sons to continue his lineage.
