King Henry I of France

Henry I was King of the Franks from 1031 to 1060, born in Reims to King Robert II and Constance of Arles. He was crowned co-king at the Cathedral of Reims in 1027 while his father was still alive. His reign was characterized by territorial struggles and efforts to maintain the French monarchy's power.

Henry I initially revolted against his father with his brother Robert, but later placated him by granting the Duchy of Burgundy. He supported his nephew William of Normandy at the Battle of Val-ès-Dunes but later opposed him. Henry's reign saw conflicts with the Holy Roman Emperor and internal disputes over territories like the County of Blois.

Henry I died on 4 August 1060 in Vitry-en-Brie and was buried in the Basilica of St Denis. He was succeeded by his son, Philip I, with his queen Anne of Kiev serving as regent.
