Eric II Magnusson was king of Norway from 1280 until his death in 1299. He was the eldest surviving son of King Magnus VI and Queen Ingeborg of Denmark. In 1273, he was designated as king alongside his father, and after Magnus VI's death, Eric was crowned as the sole king in Bergen in the summer of 1280.
During his reign, Eric married Margaret of Scotland in 1281, and they had a daughter, Margaret, Maid of Norway. After Margaret's death in 1283, Eric married Isabel Bruce in 1293, with whom he had a daughter, Ingeborg. Eric's reign included the War of the Outlaws against Denmark, partly due to his claim to his mother's Danish inheritance, and he maintained close ties with Scotland through his marriages.
Eric II Magnusson died in Bergen on July 15, 1299, and was buried in the old Christ Church, Bergen. He was succeeded by his brother Haakon V as he left no surviving sons.
