Katherine de Stafford was born around 1376 to Hugh de Stafford, 2nd Earl of Stafford, and Philippa de Beauchamp. She was one of nine children, with siblings including Margaret de Stafford and Edmund Stafford. Her paternal grandparents were Ralph Stafford and Margaret de Audley, while her maternal grandparents were Thomas de Beauchamp and Katherine Mortimer. Through her grandmothers, she was descended from English royalty, including Edward I and John, King of England.
In April 1383, Katherine married Michael de la Pole, 2nd Earl of Suffolk, and became the Countess of Suffolk. They had several children, including Michael, William, Isabel, and Elizabeth. Katherine died on 8 April 1419, four years after her husband's death from the flux. She was succeeded by her son, Michael de la Pole, 3rd Earl of Suffolk.
