Judith of Rennes, born in 982, was the daughter of Conan I, Duke of Brittany, and Ermengarde-Gerberga of Anjou. She became Duchess of Normandy around the year 1000 and held the position until her death. Her marriage to Richard II, Duke of Normandy, was part of a significant alliance between the duchies of Normandy and Brittany, as recorded by William of Jumièges.
In the year 996, her brother Geoffrey I, Duke of Brittany, married Hawise of Normandy, strengthening the familial ties between the two duchies. Judith herself founded the abbey of Bernay in 1013 and was buried there upon her death on 28 August 1017.
Death: Judith of Brittany died at the age of around 34-35 and was buried in the abbey of Bernay, France.
