Judith of Brittany, born in 982, was the daughter of Conan I, Duke of Brittany, and Ermengarde-Gerberga of Anjou. She became Duchess of Normandy around the year 1000 through her marriage to Richard II, Duke of Normandy. This union was part of a strategic double marriage alliance between the regions of Normandy and Brittany, which was first documented by William of Jumièges. Judith was instrumental in the founding of the abbey of Bernay in 1013, where she was later interred.
Judith died on 28 August 1017 and was buried in the abbey of Bernay, which she had founded. Her husband, Richard II, continued to rule as Duke of Normandy after her death.
Death: Died at age 34–35 and was buried in the abbey of Bernay.
