Joan of Lancaster, also known as Joan Plantagenet, was the third daughter of Henry, 3rd Earl of Lancaster, and Maud Chaworth. She was born around 1312 at Grosmont Castle in Monmouthshire and died on 7 July 1349 in Yorkshire, England. Her lineage included royal connections, with her paternal great-grandparents being Henry III of England and Eleanor of Provence. Joan married John de Mowbray, 3rd Baron Mowbray, and had three children. She passed away due to the plague and was interred at Byland Abbey in North Yorkshire.
