Gunnor was Duchess of Normandy through her marriage to Richard I of Normandy, having previously been his long-time mistress. She was born around 950, and her family was influential in western Normandy. Her marriage to Richard I was politically important, and she served as regent during his absences and as an adviser to both him and their son, Richard II.
Gunnor was known for her linguistic skills and excellent memory, contributing to Norman history as recorded by Dudo of St. Quentin. She was involved in charitable acts, including founding and supporting Coutances Cathedral. After Richard's death, she continued to be active, attesting charters and supporting religious institutions.
Gunnor died around 1031. Her son Richard II succeeded her husband as Duke of Normandy.
