Godgifu, also known as Goda of England, was born around 1004 as the daughter of King Æthelred the Unready and Emma of Normandy. She was the sister of King Edward the Confessor. Godgifu first married Drogo of Mantes, count of the Véxin, on April 7, 1024, and had sons with him. Her second marriage was to Eustace II, Count of Boulogne, in 1035, which did not produce any children. The marriage with Eustace was criticized at the Council of Reims in 1049, leading to its dissolution and her return to England.
Godgifu's death is debated among historians, with estimates ranging from around 1049 to 1056. After her death, her lands in Buckinghamshire were granted to Bertram de Verdun and Raoul, count of Fougères.
