Elizabeth de Bohun was born in 1313 at Castle Badlesmere, Kent, England, to Bartholomew de Badlesmere and Margaret de Clare. She was married at the age of three to Sir Edmund Mortimer, although the marriage was not consummated until later due to her young age. In 1322, Elizabeth and her family were imprisoned in the Tower of London after her mother refused entry to Queen Isabella at Leeds Castle, leading to an attack on the queen's party.
Elizabeth's father was executed for his involvement in the Earl of Lancaster's rebellion, and her brother Giles later reversed their father's attainder, inheriting the barony. Upon Giles's death in 1338, Elizabeth became a co-heiress, receiving several estates. In 1335, she married William de Bohun, 1st Earl of Northampton, to resolve tensions between the Bohun and Mortimer families.
Elizabeth de Bohun died on 8 June 1356 and was buried at Black Friars Priory, London. Her death led to the division of her estates among her heirs.
