Eadhild
Unknown - 937
House: Wessex
Titles: Princess
Eadhild was an English princess and the daughter of Edward the Elder, king of the Anglo-Saxons, and his second wife, Ælfflæd. In 926, her half-brother, King Æthelstan, arranged her marriage to Hugh, Duke of the Franks, following an embassy from Adelolf, Count of Boulogne. The marriage was part of a diplomatic exchange involving a large quantity of gifts and relics, including jewels, horses, and historical artifacts like the sword of Constantine the Great and Charlemagne's lance. Eadhild's sister, Eadgifu, was married to Charles the Simple, the deposed king of the West Franks, and may have influenced the marriage to weaken Hugh's ties with Count Herbert of Vermandois.
Eadhild died childless in 937. Her death did not affect the succession as she had no children to inherit her position.
