Countess Augusta of Reuss-Ebersdorf, born Augusta Caroline Sophie, was a member of the Reuss family and by marriage became the Duchess consort of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld. Her deep religious feelings were influenced by her upbringing in Ebersdorf, a center of Pietism. Augusta married Francis, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, and bore him ten children, with seven surviving to adulthood. Her notable descendants include Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, King Leopold I of Belgium, and Empress Carlota of Mexico.
