Henry Beaufort was an English Catholic prelate and statesman who served as the Bishop of Lincoln, the Bishop of Winchester, and was appointed cardinal. His political role included serving three times as Lord Chancellor. He was part of the royal House of Plantagenet, being the second son of John of Gaunt and Katherine Swynford.
