Alianore Holland, Countess of March, also known as Eleanor, was born to Thomas Holland, 2nd Earl of Kent, and Alice FitzAlan. She became the wife of Roger Mortimer, 4th Earl of March, who was the heir presumptive to King Richard II, her uncle. Alianore served as the governess to Richard II’s wife, Isabella of Valois. Her daughter, Anne Mortimer, established her as the great-grandmother of Kings Edward IV and Richard III of the Yorkist dynasty.
