Agatha (wife of Edward the Exile)
before 1030 - after 1070
Agatha was married to Edward the Exile, a candidate for the English throne, and was the mother of Edgar Ætheling, Saint Margaret of Scotland, and Cristina. Her early life remains largely unknown, with much speculation surrounding her ancestry. Agatha's children were likely born around 1045, suggesting her birth was before 1030. She arrived in England with her family in 1057, but soon became a widow.
After the Norman Conquest, Agatha fled to Scotland with her children in 1067, where they were sheltered by Malcolm III, her future son-in-law. The last known reference to Agatha is from 1070, and she died sometime after this date.
