Ælfgifu of Northampton

Ælfgifu of Northampton was the first wife of Cnut the Great, King of England and Denmark. She was born around 990 and was the mother of Harold Harefoot, who later became King of England. Ælfgifu served as the regent of Norway from 1030 to 1035. Her father was Ælfhelm, Ealdorman of York, and her mother was possibly Wulfrun.

Ælfgifu died after 1036, but the exact circumstances of her death and her burial place are not recorded. She was succeeded in her role as regent by others following her tenure.
